Inspiration
Tablić is a game that I have played all throughout my childhood with my family, and the people around me. I have many fond memories of playing it with other people, and I find it a shame that such a fun and simple game is not widespread outside of my country, Serbia. Therefore, we are hoping to create an easily accessible online version of this card game in order to expose it to a greater audience, and to see it become more widespread outside of the Balkans. The game itself is very similar to Tablanette, but with some altered rules, and a different, yet very engaging style of play.
What it does
It is meant to give anybody a platform to try out Tablić online, get a better understanding of the rules, and play it with their friends who are not physically with them at the moment.
How we built it
We built this application using many different programming languages, such as C#, Node.JS, Javascript, HTML, and Python.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges that we ran into was implementing functions to check the validity of actions that are taken in the game, developing a front end and a back end to the application, and finding a way to host it on the internet.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some accomplishments that we are proud of include learning how to develop a backend to a program in Node.JS, and figuring out how to calculate the validity of a hand.
What we learned
We learned the basic process of making programs accessible to the public, basic project management skills, and to never underestimate app development.
What's next for Tablićweb
We look to add a chat function, 4 player compatibility, more ways to connect people, card animations, DDOS protection, and to host it on a third party server instead of our local computers.
