Inspiration
The inspiration behind SyncBridge was the need for a more flexible and inclusive way of communicating. In a world dominated by real-time conferencing tools, we noticed the stress and constraints they put on schedules and productivity. We envisioned a platform that respects individual time zones, work habits, and the balance between work and life, thus giving birth to SyncBridge.
What it does
SyncBridge offers a novel approach to digital communication by enabling asynchronous conversations. It allows users to send and receive screen video, audio, and text messages on their own time. This flexibility empowers users to interact without the pressure of real-time responses, fostering a more thoughtful and efficient exchange of ideas.
How we built it
SyncBridge used following technologies:
- React for the frontend
- Ably for real time collaboration
- Ably Space for avatars stack
- Ably React Hooks
- PostgreSQL for data storage
- Mantine for UI components
Challenges we ran into
Building a real time collaboration tool is a challenging task. We had to make sure that the data is synced across all the users in real time. But using Ably, we were able to achieve this goal.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to build a fully functional real time collaboration tool in a short amount of time.
What we learned
We learned lot of new things while building SyncBridge. We learned how to use Ably for real time collaboration. We also learned how to use Ably Space for avatars stack.
What's next for Sync Bridge
There are lot of features that we want to add to SyncBridge. Some of them are:
Ably Space full integration rather than just avatars
Mobile app and UI improvements
More collaboration features like whiteboard, code editor, etc.
