As players embark on their quest, they are cast in the role of decision makers, responsible for guiding the fate of an evolving society. The game interacts with players through a conversation with the OpenAI GPT model, acting as a wise foreteller with the ability to predict the consequences of their actions. This dynamic exchange enhances player engagement, allowing them to explore various scenarios and their potential outcomes.
The key mechanic in Sustainia is the concept of karma, a measure of the ethical value of the players' choices. Based on the impact your actions get, you will get positive or negative karma, depending on if the action is good or bad. This makes the user care more about their decision and become more environmentally conscious.
Sustainia also utilizes DALL-E to vividly represent the consequences of the players' choices. Whether it be the flourishing green landscapes of a sustainable utopia or the bleak desolation of an unchecked dystopia, DALL-E paints a compelling visual narrative, amplifying the impact of the players' choices and reinforcing the connection between cause and effect.
Sustania features stunning visuals, using custom built parallax backgrounds to create a more pleasing and friendly experience for the user. Alongside the implementation of DALL-E images the design and display of our experience will be one the user cannot forget. One of the our biggest challenge for prompt engineering for the prompt to make it consistent and accurate to the cause. It took over 33 tries to get it, but we got it eventually. We also ran into issues making the parallax in Unity due to different layer not going at the right speeds, but we eventually got it with some physics-related adjustment.
