Inspiration

I came into this hackathon really wanting to learn snowflake. Maybe I was influenced by it's name, but I decided to do a project based on data and sustainability

What it does

This project displays data about our traveling methods as well as our home appliances. It also will generate tips on how to lower your energy based on your household. This application allows users to chat with snowflake's cortex AI for lowering costs or how to be more cautious with energy.

How we built it

I built this web app using streamlit and snowflake. Snowflake held onto pdfs and give the user tips based on those files. I used kaggle for data on my front page then build the entire front-end using streamlit.

Challenges we ran into

I have never used snowflake before so trying to navigate around the platform was challenging at first. I also wanted to use a dataset from snowflake, but I just couldn't figure out a good way to get it on my side then connect the API to it as well, so I decided to go with Kaggle. I had a lot of trouble trying to deploy to the point where I had no idea where to go with it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of finishing this project and accomplishing what I wanted to do

What we learned

I learned that deploying a streamlit app is way more confusing than what I expected

What's next for sustainability analytics

If I were to make this project over a long period of time, I would love to transfer the front-end to a framework like next.js or angular. I would also like to give snowflake more pdfs to work with so in the future people would be able to ask about their own appliance or what kinds of repairs they would need.
