Inspiration
With university tuition increasing 25.6%, and student debt growing by over 40% over the last 10 years, bringing light to individual's financial situation is becoming more and more important. The majority of students take on these loans to finance their education but do not attempt to process what they have taken on. We wanted to provide a tool that helps improve students financial literacy and better handle their loans and debt.
What it does
Incorporating hiking and trail analogies, we aim to give a seemlessly motivational way for students to feel encouraged to take on and better manage their loans / debt. Users will be able to see how debt behaves based on certain individual financial decisions. Visualizes the data and provides a guide through their journey to reach the SUMMIT and conquer their debt. We added a chat bot integration that provides answers to user questions.
How we built it
Our team creating the application through react-native, utilized mongo db, and used axios for https **API **calls. Divided requirements that we set at the beginning of ideation and completed the project.
Challenges we ran into
Hardships when it comes to physical exhaustion, burnout, time constraints, other responsibilities are some. From the project standpoint, setting up the environment and getting to a consensus on what kinds of packages we wanted to use. Connecting the database and entangling the front end and the back end took a bit of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Staying up so late in the night and being able to create a MVP is an accomplishment that our team is proud of.
What we learned
Learned different packages to make our coding lives better, styling for back end and front end making sure to make them separate, and database related knowledge.
What's next for Summit
We hope to destigmatize debt and financial situation. Not to avoid them, but to face them and better understand your loans.
