Inspiration
We are inspired to help users find summer activities easily.
What it does
Users can find interesting summer activities in their locations, that are related to their personal interests, preferences, time available, etc.
How we built it
The process of building this application was broken into three different parts. The first part was idea brainstorming. This led us to decide that we would have a summer recommendation app, and after brainstorming even more we were able to determine many of the specifics regarding the app. The next phase was the outline phase in Miro. We drew an outline of the workflow and made rough versions of what all the different screens would resemble. Finally, there was the Figma phase, where we took all the ideas from the brainstorming and Miro, and made a final mockup with proper connections and good-looking screens.
Challenges we ran into
Neither of us code - so we don't know what's the actual constraints when it comes to developing the actual app. So some of the features here might need to adjust accordingly in the future if we learn how to code.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Alex: Personally, I'm proud that I have built a mockup for the first time, as well as having succeeded in working on a team project with someone else. I'm also proud of the aesthetic of the application, it looks like something that could be published.
Emma: This is my first time building an MVP in such a short time. It is a big learning curve for me. The last time I built something like this, it took me about a month...
What we learned
Alex: Personally, I learned a lot since this was my first hackathon. I have not started my degree in software engineering yet, and have no work experience in the field so this experience taught me how to work in a team efficiently. Furthermore, I gained technical skills by learning the workflow in miro, as well as in Figma.
Emma: I gained more experience empathizing with users, wireframing, and prototyping in Figma. I am more aware of the importance of using UX frameworks to analyze problems, brainstorm solutions, and build a useful product.
What's next for Sum Fun
The next step for Sum Fun would be to actually create the application using code, rather than just stopping at the mockup. However, this will require both of us to learn how to properly code in order to do this. In addition, various features could be added such as a map feature and perhaps a payment system for reservations.
