Inspiration
Me and my teammate often would subscribe for free trials, and forget to cancel them once they expired. This resulted in us often getting charged for services we didn't use. So we wanted a solution that would allow us to stop worrying about our subscriptions
What it does
Subscrybe is a chrome extension that lets you add your subscriptions in your browser, right when you subscribe. As the expiry date approaches, we send you a text message asking if you would like to cancel the subscription. If you simply respond "yes", we automatically cancel it for you.
How I built it
Flask backend, angular for the chrome extension, UIPath for automating the subscription cancellation and mongodb atlas to store the subscriptions.
Challenges I ran into
Struggled to get UIPath setup, lack of chrome extension knowledge made it take much longer to set up the chrome extension
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Successfully making the chrome extension without any prior experience
What I learned
How to use UIPath, make a chrome extension. Sleep isn't that important.
What's next for Subscrybe
We plan on improving the UI/UX, and ensuring that all subscription websites can be automatically cancelled, and be added.
