🧠 About the Project

🌱 What Inspired Me

As a student, I often struggled with distractions, lack of consistency, and studying alone.
While there are many productivity tools available, most of them felt overwhelming or competitive, which sometimes increased stress instead of improving focus.

I wanted to build something different β€” a calm, supportive, and peaceful digital space where students could study together without pressure.
That idea became StudyTogether.

πŸ› οΈ How I Built the Project

I built StudyTogether during the hackathon using Medo to quickly design, prototype, and iterate on the application.

Medo helped me:

  • Define the overall app flow and structure
  • Generate UI components with a calm and minimal design
  • Build productivity features like focus sessions and a Pomodoro timer
  • Rapidly prototype a working solution within the limited timeframe

The frontend was built using React (Create React App) with React Router for navigation and CSS for styling.
The project was deployed on Vercel to make it easily accessible as a live demo.

🚧 Challenges I Faced

Some of the main challenges I encountered were:

  • Designing a UI that feels minimal but not empty
  • Deciding which features were essential and which could overwhelm users
  • Managing time effectively during a 48-hour hackathon
  • Maintaining a calm user experience while still adding useful functionality

These challenges forced me to focus on simplicity, clarity, and real user needs.

✨ What I Learned

Through building StudyTogether, I learned:

  • How calm and intentional design can significantly impact user focus
  • How to use Medo tools effectively for rapid prototyping
  • How to balance productivity features with simplicity
  • How building for a community you relate to leads to better product decisions

I also learned that productivity tools don’t have to be intense β€”
they can be gentle, supportive, and still effective.

🎯 Final Thoughts

StudyTogether is built for a community I deeply relate to.
It shows that even small, thoughtfully designed digital spaces can make a meaningful difference in how students learn and stay consistent.

I’m excited to continue improving it beyond the hackathon.
