Inspiration

  • We wanted a way to connect with our peers outside of the class time. This website allows for us to meet one on one through a more professional setting. We are also doing it of our own accord and feel more comfortable studying when we know that the peer we study with is going through the same hardship. ## What it does
  • The website provides a list of other students in the same class that we can reach out to. ## How we built it
  • Formed a flowchart on figma
  • Used nextjs for the framework, firestorage from firebase for the data, and javascript for the frontend development. ## Challenges we ran into
  • A lot of backend challenges and working against the time constraint
  • Fetching and rendering errors that come with working through github
  • Understanding how to implement buttons on frontend development
  • Errors when trying to use other options (such as dropdown arrow or modal)
  • Fetching from the database and incorporating fake data
  • Preventing information from the database from being repeated
  • Implementing a search feature ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
  • The website works!
  • The fake information is displayable on the website
  • All of the buttons are usable
  • Homepage is laid out nicely, along with the FAQ portion. ## What we learned
  • Using databases and implementing it within the website
  • Additional visual components of the website ## What's next for StudyBuddy
  • Messaging system to better connect peers rather than keeping it strictly informational.
