StudyBuddy

Inspiration

Coming from academic intensive backgrounds, we decided to develop a study helper that would act as Quizlet with validation by voice recognition.

What it does

Lights up green when the right keyword is spoken, lights up red when given another one is. Has the voice recognition capacities that, with the future development of an accessible user interface, can become a verbal version of Quizlet flashcards.

How we built it

Built with Arduino Uno, a USB AB cord, breadboard, LEDs, resistors, jumper wires, MAX4466 electret mic and amp, Arduino IDE/C++, BitVoicer Server Client.

Challenges we ran into

We had difficulty connecting to the wifi, setting up the LED lights, and using C++ to edit the code in the BitVoicer Server.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of getting the LEDs to work properly and respond to voice commands.

What we learned

We learned how to use Arduino equipment and its IDE. We also learned how to create circuits and to power LED lights.

What's next for StudyBuddy

We want to be able to have a user interface in which users can input their own questions, vocabulary words, and answers. We would also like to connect a speaker to StudyBuddy so that verbal feedback can be given to the user.
