Inspiration

We were inspired after a long day of searching for a seat to study at Zachary (it's always crowded there).

What it does

It shows a map view of study areas nearby and allows you to sort them, view their characteristics, and create your own study space to share the love with your fellow students.

How we built it

With a lot of caffeine and a newfound hatred for javascript, we used the up and coming web framework Svelte.js with TypeScript connecting to Firebase and Google Maps API to create our web app.

Challenges we ran into

All but one of the members had no experience in web development prior to the hackathon. Git conflicts were also a constant threat.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The google maps view turned out very well, and the smooth integration with firebase impressed us!

What we learned

All the members learned a new and upcoming web framework, a lot of css commands, and more git than we'd like to admit. We also learned some of the difficulty that comes with API integration.

What's next for Study Scout

User profiles, reviews, desktop styling, and leaderboards.
