Inspiration for creating StudyBuddies: High-school and college students have a huge course load and completing it alone without teaming up with peers is what many prefer. This preference might have resulted from many factors: · Lack of connections among peers who share the same interests and expertise. · Inability to maintain a group study plan for the long run. · Unavailability of a social media platform where content related to academics is primarily shared and where peers can interact and grow their connections. · Being too shy to interact with people. Being in high school and colleges, members of our team related the whole thing with their own day to day life. We are sociable animals and we love to form connections. But in the meantime we fail in socializing in some facets of life, here in education.
The best solution at which we arrived after a brief discussion is building a web app for catering to our needs, and hence we founded StudyBuddies –An online platform which enables us to view and select peers who share quite the same subjects of study, and have similar interests, also allowing them to connect via text messaging and content sharing. There are options for expanding your network beyond your region, state and even country, connecting similar dots all over the globe to make a vibrant network. It’s more than a mere study group and it’s better than the typical social media. By enriching the lives of students with the fresh collaborations they can get, our creation is one of a kind which you can get. About the app: As a newly formed team, we members struggled at the beginning, collaboration over online platforms was a bit of an offset. But as we conversed and adapted to the settings, it became an usual group work. The biggest challenge was completing the whole project within the given deadline, though time seemed to run slow as we members shared our thoughts.

What we learned:

Applying our creativity, we made vibrant web pages. But what did we learn? We learnt how a team works in an industry, how people collaborate with professionals and how do we perform within a deadline without letting our productivity slouch.

What’s next for study buddies?

We are aiming to be bigger and better. If StudyBuddies is implemented as a full fledged running website then we can make it our new startup. With the functionality that’s unique to our website, it would definitely attract new users. With more added features like chat bots, customer service, enhanced encryption, etc. our website will grow and become more user-friendly. Our team seeks to attract funding from various sources who might like our idea of StudyBuddies and help us connect students worldwide.
