Inspiration

Study Buddy is a Discord bot that will improve your study sessions! As students, we are often looking for new tools that could help us maximize our productivity while studying, that´s why we wanted to build a little friend that could join us in hour long study sessions.

What it does

Study Buddy makes your study session less stressful! Caring about your selfcare it´s important even when trying to ace your test, so Study Buddy will give you reminders every 35 minutes to drink water and take a break if need. Study Buddy can also help you choose the best study materials for your session, by providing you the best resources to study, just tell it your subject and Study Buddy will give you the perfect set of flashcards. Our little friend can also help us by giving us encouragement words everytime we have an exam coming up, motivational quotes for when we are feeling down and playlist recommendations to vibe during our sessions.

How we built it

Using the Discord Developer API and Python, we were able to do our bot. We also hosted our bot on Google Cloud.

Challenges we ran into

This was the first time we coded a Discord Bot, so this was really a "learn on the road" kind of experience. We had some problems adding commands to our code, so that is definitely something we can keep working on.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of the final result since it was our first time doing a project with this. Being able to learn how to code a bot in less than 24 hours was amazing and we are really proud of that. We are also really proud of building a project that is useful and can help a lot of students like us.
