Inspiration
I've been studying with my friend David over the past year and a half, and one way to keep ourselves productive was to use the Flora app and facetime eachother so we could see one another doing work.
What it does
Each user has a unique ID, which is used to send to another user. Once they pick up, they enable their mic and video to call one another.
How we built it
This application has a backend hosted on Heroku and frontend deployed on Netlify. It uses WebRTC, which allows for simple web video chat functionality. The languages include React and Javascript.
Challenges we ran into
Precise naming of variables >:(
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having the application work with (what is believed to be) minimal code.
What we learned
To run the backend locally first to get the ID (very simple mistake haha) Downloading an extension in VSCode for string typos can help save a lot of time. WebRTC, sockets, frontend and backend programming.
What's next for Studii
Implementing a pomodoro timer. Studii depends on gimmicks to make it stand out; unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to implement this, so this will be kept in mind for the future.
