Inspiration
Eno and Veronica are both college sophomores, so they have a lot of experience with managing money in college. They thought that a website that compiles all important resources for financial management would be very beneficial to college students.
What it does
- a collection of resources for scholarships, internships, and financial planning guides
- allows people to view their bank information
- allows people to jot down and organize their financial goals.
How we built it
We structured the project with HTML and used javascript for the more complex features. We thought about using React but stayed with HTML/CSS/JS
Challenges we ran into
We wanted features such as making a pie chart to display how much money the user has in each card/account, which required npm. Replit did not support it, so we had trouble with the chart.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Since we are all not very experienced with programming websites, we are proud that the user interface is easy to understand and use. We are also proud of the project itself since we did not plan on making much.
What we learned
Even though Replit is a convenient online IDE, it does not support crucial packages and things like Node.js. Using VSCode for IDE and GitHub for version control would be wiser in a future project with more complex features.
What's next for Student Bank
We are thinking of fully utilizing the Capital One API and npm so Student Bank can have more features. Also, we plan to optimize the site across different devices like mobile phones and tablets.
