Inspiration

Project STRIDE, “The All in One Profile to your Life,” originates from the idea of having a progress tracker. As strides are everywhere whether you walk or run, STRIDE serves as the single profile to document and guide you anywhere through your journey–whether it be a physical development, a side hustle, or just life in general.

What it does

If you’ve tried to improve yourself or get into time management, you’ve probably stumbled upon the problem of having too many different applications or websites to keep track of the things you do, and in the end it just becomes a hassle. STRIDE prevents this, by keeping all of the things you need to track, in one application or website.

In other words, STRIDE is your all-in-one hub that :

  • Keeps note of your current progress
  • Helps track your future progress
  • Assist you in managing your tasks
  • And achieve your goals

How I built it

I started by brainstorming my project on paper, and further designing how it would look and function in figma. With a clear idea in mind, I used html, css, and javascript to program the website in VSCode, and finally, with the help of convex, Stride can track and store your goals with a convex-run database.

Challenges I ran into (and how I tackled them)

Personally, I never really knew how to code in general since although I had the theory down, I've never really put it into practice of creating a massive project where I combine lots of different theories, however, thanks to the help of AI and online tutorials, in the end I managed to combine my theories and make it into a website. In addition, I've never used any external things like convex, so it felt really foreign to me. Luckily, there were lots of steps to guide me along the way, so in the end I could do just fine.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Putting in the long hours to code for a project is always something i'll be proud of. Although the final result is always enjoyable, I find it satisfying to know that I've put in effort, and I'm proud that I've gone this far. In addition, integrating convex as a backend database was completely new to me, so I'm proud that I was able to push through.

What I learned

Everyday matters. From the start to finish, every single day could be used for something important to be improved or progressed on the project. Anything could be inspiration and everything is a resource. Above all, I've learned that the smallest problems could have the most complex solutions, but we can never really know how to solve a problem unless we just do it.

What's next for STRIDE

Though Currently only a website, STRIDE aims to be a working app in both mobile and desktop so that anyone can track what they do from anywhere. Whether it be from the comfort of your home while you’re on that grind, or on the go, in the gym, trying to stay fit, STRIDE will always be with you as you take your next step in life.

In the near future, STRIDE plans to heavily integrate AI into its new features such as a calendar to plan ahead deadlines or create steps to completing your goals, a "Game Mode" that transforms the profile with AI to add skills, stats, and competitiveness, and lastly "The System" where its user can use the settings to fully configure the app. There are still many ways to improve STRIDE as it gains more feedback from its users, however what matters most for now is that STRIDE's users feel comfortable and could use STRIDE efficiently, without any delay.
