Inspiration
We were inspired to do this because we wanted to give the Chinatown community a way to preserve memories from family and friends, regardless of language barriers. We have experienced similar troubles with our grandparents who can't speak fluent English, which motivated us to make a seamless digital archive for Chinatown residents. Story Vault is an AI-powered platform that allows you to preserve and translate stories into any language. Whether storing family memories or sharing community experiences, Story Vault makes capturing and reliving meaningful moments easy. Stories are available in over 80 languages, enhanced with AI-generated sound effects and relevant images to create an immersive experience. While memories may fade, with Story Vault, you can ensure they are preserved for future generations to hear and share with the world through our "explore" page. The front end is built in Next.js, and the backend is built in Python script with Flask that uses Open AI. In the future, we want to add video translation and a historical and community timeline to enhance the viewers' experience.
