Our app fosters cultivation of creative expression by providing users with events that help them get out of their comfort zone with different challenges whether social, creative, emotional, etc. The app also helps create a more inclusive society by providing a platform where users are able to find people to do acts of “seeking discomfort” as motivation and persuasion to put themselves out there. By providing events that are mostly challenging for a majority of individuals, we create opportunities for users to take on risks through creative endeavors. By creating a form of discussion where users can talk about their experience with their activity, this app is able to sustain personal authenticity and creativity. The target audience for this app are people that face anxiety to do something new and for people that just want to explore new activities but haven’t reached adequate levels of motivation to move forward. Due to our target audience being a part of a marginalized group, StepOut was created so users can express themselves through challenging activities. Doing challenges out of our comfort zone can help you feel more confident in yourself and feel less nervous to be your full self.

We were inspired by a Youtube channel called Yes Theory where the main point of their videos is to seek discomfort and say yes to more things. From that idea we decided to make it into an app so that people are able to find events nearby and activities to do that can promote seeking discomfort. We realized that some people hold back from doing things they want to do because they are scared and aren't ready for change and providing events while also being able to get your friends involved would surely help people get out of their comfort zone or lead them to the right step. From this idea we decided to create features like user comments/discussions, saved event posts, event finder, friend finder, and event insider. By implementing a discussion feed, we provide users with a platform to comment on events that other users complete to learn more about the event and relate to others that are also trying to get out of their comfort zones. We created events based on 5 categories that generalize discomfort activities like health, social, creative, emotional, and physical. We also researched peer reviewed articles that have proven that many benefits come from seeking discomfort which prompted us to proceed with this innovative idea. Overall, we hope users are able to navigate through this app in order to find events that could help them overcome discomfort by dealing with discomfort.

P.S. For the prototype, it would be best to make it "fit to screen" :) We also provided a lot of research (peer reviewed article and survey) and user persona! thank you!
