Inspiration
As underclassmen women in STEM, we knew that finding a community of like-minded, supportive women was of utmost importance. As members of WWC, who found that being in that organization helped us through tough spots, we wanted to bring that privilege to every woman at UTD in a simple way.
What it does
STEMvolved is our way of doing so. We aggregated all the women-focused clubs on campus, from WWC and SWE to WMWE and WinSTEM. You can see each club's next event, as well as all of their upcoming events for the month of April. Finally, you can fill out a form to be a mentor or a mentee and then find other women who share your interests.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was ensuring everything on the site was linked properly. We ran into some issues where certain buttons would not link correctly and take us either to the wrong page or not work at all. Another aspect that was very difficult was ensuring the form data was printed correctly. We are still working on aspects of that to ensure that the form data is printed and updated correctly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our design. All of us are still beginners to web dev, so this was a great learning experience to explore more regarding Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
What we learned
We gained some great troubleshooting skills to see what was going wrong where. Being able to debug was something we worked on till the end.
What's next for STEMvolved
We hope to be able to make this website better and more functional in the future.
