When repetitive close-call burns and tragic losses of spaghetti into the drain ruin an exceptional pasta dinner, something must be done. Our team was inspired to design the Steady-Strain, a safe and convenient way to strain your pasta. The Steady-Strain is inspired by chickens, who use their vestibular system to stabilize their head movements independent of their body. This feature helps them focus their gaze, keep their balance, and detect movement in their environment. By mimicking this movement, the Steady-Stream allows a seamless pour of boiled water, leaving nothing but a delicious meal.
Using the advantages of a vestibular system, this product includes a stabilized strainer. With the use of pivot points connecting the strainer to the rim, the strainer stays in position no matter the angle as the pot rotates. As the water is poured out not only does the pot direct steam away from your face, but since the strainer is so closely connected, it minimizes splash back. Due to its spherical shape matching the radius of the pot, we are able to maximize the volume of the strainer, meaning more food in one cook. This mechanism allows not only a smooth transition from boiled to drained pasta, but also minimizes concern for injuries, ensuring convenience as it does not require a balancing act in the sink to function.
