Inspiration For the past few years, me and my siblings would walk home from the bus stop alone. Both of our parents worked, so we would walk home with all the other kids at the bus stop. Although the walk was less than a few miles, we walked through roads, and oftentimes times it felt unsafe. As I was older, I would have to guide my sister and track her at all times when walking. Now that I am in high school, we are unable to walk home at the same time as my school ends after hers. This means that I will not be able to keep track of her, and it really puts a risk to her safety. Stay Safe is an app that not only helps me make sure my sister gets home on the right route, but also allows her to always stay well mentally as well. What it does StaySafe is a youth safety companion that provides an all-in-one mobile resource for the safety of the youth. The application offers 24/7 advice, real-time GPS tracking, directions, safe routes, and many articles promoting the youth's safety and personal development. How we built it StaySafe started as a rough bullet point which me and my parents brainstormed when thinking of getting my sister a phone.

• [X ] For her to be up to date on news These started as my first flowchart and wireframe. I made a screen for each of the problems I wanted to fix. I then made variables and different buttons I wanted functionally. Through a resource called AppHive, I was able to bring all of this together and create a functional app.
  Challenges we ran into Many times, as I am new to coding and app development, I did not understand the terminology. It took many days for me to figure out how to create the UI and how to make all the buttons work. Accomplishments that we're proud of I am very proud of our maps slide, which allows a real GPS system, and once set, highlights a route for walking to the next destination the right way. What we learned Throughout this project, I not only learned how to program an app, and all the different steps from brainstorming to actually putting everything together. I also learned determination and to keep on trying when one of my functions was not working. The chat was one of the hardest to put together, as I did not know what APIs were. All of the skills learned through this project have helped develop my knowledge for my future career. What's next for StaySafe I think that StaySafe needs to be on every child's phone, and can bring a lot of safety to not only my community but to communities throughout the world. Without live GPS tracking, and AI 24/7 assistance to help the children at all times, I think I can make the world a better place and protect the youth.
