Inspiration
Through our app, we want to help small business owners better understand industry trends and set them on the right path to financial stability. We are looking to normalize benchmark accounting data to make it easily comprehendable.
What it does
Through our app, small business owners around the United States will be able to share anonymous information, such as balance sheets, income statements, expense reports, etc. Through integrations with other services such as PayPal Marketing Solutions, Quickbooks, Shopify, Google Analytics, and Salesforce, we are able to combine industry information to help new business owners make profitable decisions.
How we built it
We used Python to convert the XLSX to CSV. Java was used to search the CSV for data points and normalize the data fields for a specific industry. HTML and CSS to build to theoretically host the service.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was not having a diverse team of developers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We believe that our idea is worth developing and can help small businesses prosper.
What we learned
We learned how to structure a team in a way that everyone was working on something that they were strong at.
What's next for Start Me Up
We believe that through more development, Start Me Up can be really helpful to small businesses, even through a potential integration with PayPal Marketing Solutions.
