What it does

Star Wars Academy (SWA) is more than just an educational platform; it's a beacon of hope in a universe plagued by darkness. Here, students embark on quests for knowledge, guided by wise mentors (Google Gemini-1.0-pro) who illuminate the path to enlightenment. From lightsaber combat to astrophysics, every lesson is a step toward becoming the hero they were meant to be. SWA can be utilized to learn any Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths, or Language (STEAML) Concept, and to discover how to make a career in the topic of interest. It is packed with cool mini-games and Quizzes to test you on your path.

How we built it

Drawing upon the Force itself—or rather, the latest in Generative AI and educational technology— we crafted an immersive experience within the digital realm. Leveraging Google Gemini-Pro-1.0, Google Cloud Platform (Various APIs & Cloud Run), and supported Integrations of Telegram, we brought the magic of Star Wars to life in every lesson and interaction. We also set up multiple Examples and used Star-Wars Character DataStores & APIs. We used Google Cloud Platform's Agent Builder to construct a Conversational Bot using Google Gemini Pro 1.0, seamlessly integrated with the Telegram Bot using Dialog Flow and other APIs. To ensure smooth operation, we established a robust backend for the bot with Google Container Registries and deployed it using Google Cloud Run.

Challenges we ran into

The journey to create Star Wars Academy was not without its trials. We faced the daunting task of blending storytelling with education, ensuring that every aspect of the experience felt authentic to the Star Wars universe. Technical hurdles such as integrating various APIs and platforms, optimizing performance, and ensuring data privacy and security, tested our resolve. Time constraints also posed challenges, but like true Jedi, we persevered and overcame each obstacle with determination and ingenuity.

Our proudest achievement lies in students' smiles as they unlock their potential and embrace the Force within. From mastering C, C++, and Python to unravelling the mysteries of the Force, each success is a testament to the power of knowledge.

What we learned

Through the creation of Star Wars Academy, we gained invaluable insights into cutting-edge technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Generative AI, and Conversational Agents. We honed our skills in software development, UI/UX design, and project management, navigating complex technical landscapes with agility and determination. Additionally, we deepened our understanding of the importance of storytelling and gamification in education, leveraging these techniques to engage learners and enhance their learning experiences.
