Inspiration

We are inspired by the opportunity to utilize technological advancements in a radically different way. A broad audience can seamlessly access and utilize the potential of Decentralized Finance.

What it does

SRWA Lending is a basic, pool-based lending protocol, where deposited resources are used as collateral. It has flexible terms and a utilization-based interest rate. Think of AAVE, Compounding, or Venus, but for the Radix ecosystem.

How we built it

We have gathered our knowledge of existing lending protocols on other networks and redesigned the flow for the Radix distributed ledger.

Challenges we ran into

In a nutshell, the major challenge was to bridge the gap between known best practices and unknown innovation potential. And, to decide when and why to proceed with each one. Both business and tech-wise.

Some common lending features in TradFi and DeFi on other protocols can be completely reinvented on the Radix network, so it took some additional time to do an assessment.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We took this challenge as one sprint and we had no previous lending-related code written on Radix. Maybe the most important thing is that we have achieved what we have planned to achieve.

What we learned

We are more confident in our capabilities to plan and deliver. There are bumps on the way, and with good planning, the risk can be minimized. We have opened some doors that would drive our curiosity, exploration and dedication to future problem-solving.

What's next for SRWA Lending

The backlog is now bigger than ever :) There are some short-term and longer-term plans to update the protocol. From full protocol config to adding platform fees (reserves), intensive testing (end user, security, performance), to launching an SRWA token utilized as Participation Incentives for Suppliers and Borrowers on top of the existing interest rates, to Oracle integration, and Governance model.

The progress made is a good checkpoint for new challenges in the RWA sphere. We expect to have more intensive work on Asset Origination, NFTs, using Badges as zk KYC.
