Inspiration
Our inspiration was watching too many succulents die due to poor care. We wanted to create a fun way for users to track their plants and learn how to care for them, making gardening more accessible.
What it does
Sproutable allows users to create accounts and then add plants to their profile, to mimic their real plants. Then the site will provide helpful information about the user's plants and, in the future, send reminders to the user about when to water or repot.
How we built it
We built the site with HTML, CSS and Bootstrap and stored user information with flask.
Challenges we ran into
Learning how to build a web application.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the design of our website and of all the new things we learned!
What we learned
We learned a lot about backend programming!
What's next for Sproutable
We want to add an extensive plant database and change the advice based on the user's location/climate. Also we want to add a gamified aspect where users can earn prizes for staying on track with their watering schedule such as plant skins. In addition, we want to create a better account system which includes passwords and logging out.
