Spring Lotus – Reflect. Reframe. Renew.
From Burnout to Balance: Building My Own Wellness Companion
I was juggling hackathons and academics, and the constant deadlines pushed me into burnout, unhealthy habits, and even depression. To tackle this, I created Spring Lotus — a non‑medical AI‑powered check‑in assistant that helps me and others pause, reflect, and grow.
Story
Mood Selection
When I felt overwhelmed, I realized the importance of naming my emotions. So I built a mood selector with 5 states, each adapting its labels to guide reflection.
Dynamic Stress Slider
Stress isn’t the same when you’re “Great” versus “Struggling.” I designed a smart slider that adjusts ranges based on mood, making self‑assessment more intuitive.
Thought Sharing
During my toughest nights, I needed a safe space to express myself. The app lets users share thoughts in up to 500 characters — enough to release emotions without overthinking.
AI‑Powered Responses
Instead of silence, I wanted empathetic validation. The assistant generates supportive feedback, coping suggestions, and wellness tips, simulating the presence of a caring companion.
User Progression
I gamified wellness: XP points, streaks, and a smooth animated LevelProgressBar turn consistency into a rewarding journey.
Advanced Analytics
- Mood Trends: A Recharts LineChart visualizes emotional ups and downs.
- Mind Garden (Word Cloud): Frequent reflection keywords bloom into a dynamic word cloud.
- Consistency Heatmap: A GitHub‑style grid shows daily streaks, encouraging me to keep going.
Responsive Design
Whether on my laptop during hackathons or on my phone between classes, the app’s minimalist sage aesthetic keeps the experience calming and accessible.
Closing Note
Spring Lotus is my way of turning pain into purpose. Mental stress winter is gone, and wellness spring has come.
