SportSpot is a simple-to-use iOS app that allows bars and entertainment venues to easily gauge interest and tweet about college football or NFL games. With just a few taps, owners can let their patrons know about upcoming game they will be showing and connect with interested Tweeters in the area who might not already know about their bar.
The App has three screens: a profile page where owners can set their Twitter profile and other information, "My City", where users see a bar chart reflecting current interest in each game in their city and a map of current showings, and "My Events", where events can be automatically generated for today's games and users can manage RSVPs. Once an event is created, the user is provided with a list of other Twitter users who have tweeted about the game and who might be interested in knowing where they can see it.
The App prepopulates lists of upcoming games and times and aggregates Tweets by game using the SportsData and Twitter APIs. It displays information using the Google Charts and Google Maps APIs. The App is a one-stop shop for informed event creation, easy event management, and effective direct marketing, all powered by Twitter.
