Inspiration

As a group of people who enjoy fitness, creating splits for a workout regimen can be difficult and tedious. With our experiences in mind, we strove to create an intuitive user experience that can help fitness enthusiasts create workout splits on any level, from beginner to professional.

What it does

The score-based system provides the user with a workout schedule based on what they pick. With an account, the user can save different schedules such that they can alternate every week if they choose to do so.

How we built it

We created this experience using a variety of technologies and languages suited for the task. We used python and flask to create our backend API and create it to a MongoDb database. For the frontend we implemented the React.js framework chakra, as well as Tailwind.css for styling.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a variety of challenges as our ambition for the project grew beyond the timeframe of the hackathon. Regarding the front end, we struggled to limit ourselves to what was absolutely necessary, giving way to a complicated user flow. Additionally some of our team members were less experienced, and being tasked with learning technology unfamiliar to them proved challenging

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a smooth, functional, and appealing frontend, as well as a robust and efficient backend and database.

What we learned

We had a team member learn how to use React and Chakra UI so that they could help make some of the web pages.

What's next for SplitPicker

Polishing the UI even further, adding a calendar functionality such that users are reminded of what to do for the day and more ways to score the schedules by adding more user inputs.
