Inspiration

Inspiration for creating the SPIN theme really came from years of agency work within the hubspot ecosystem. We our combined experiences with previous frameworks that we have built and sussed out some of the most common issues that we have faced in the past and found ways to improve upon them or create solutions inside of our framework that fix the issues at hand all together.

As mentioned earlier, SPIN theme is designed and built with agencies and creatives in mind. By no means does this infer that the average user shouldnt use it, however agencies who often work with designers and have a plethora of clients in different industries with different needs will find that the Spin Theme suits all of their needs.

Key features

SPIN makes use of few but very powerful modules. Instead of building out smaller modules that serve very specific purposes we built fewer modules that have more capabilities baked in, this does a few things for the end user:

Makes it easy and simple to remember what modules are named and which ones they need to get the job done.
Makes it easier to edit the site in the future. Want to change a banner image to spice up a page? Simply edit the module variant and tweak some of the options. No need to find a new module and copy and paste content into a new section all together.
Speeds up web development time

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The spin theme heavily utilizes the theme settings. One of the things that we are most proud of with the SPIN theme is it's blogging capabilities. We connected all of the blogs that anyone could create to a single blog template and then connected that template to the theme settings.

This means that with one blog template users can have multiple blog pages all that can look drastically different. We are really proud of the way that we are pushing Hubspots theming capabilities in this way and are really excited to have a bit more time in the future to build upon this idea.

While the theme comes with a high quality design baked in, it is extremely simple to rapidly change that design to completely reimagine what the SPIN theme looks like. That is why we like to think of it as more of a framework. Two different websites built on the SPIN theme have the potential to look extremely different. It is likely that a visitor to both sites would have no idea that they were built using the same framework.

What's next for Spin Theme

In the weeks, months, and years to come we plan on building out more modules and functionality that we didn't have time to complete before the end of the challenge. We are extremely happy with the product that we are putting on the market but have many more ideas that we didnt have enough time to implement well enough to include in the first pass.

As stated earlier one of the key areas that we are excited to explore further are the blog integrations into the theme settings that SPIN makes use of. We forsee the ability to completely customize each and every blog on a portal to look unique all while using a single blog template. The current SPIN theme has set the groundwork for this in motion.
