Inspiration
Whether we use zoom, webex, google meet, or gather.town, we all have to use our webcams for calls these days. And while some Zoom users on Windows/Mac can get special effects on their calls, there is no good one-stop-shop for all our fun webcam needs these days.
What it does
It's a nice interface to apply webcam effects to your webcam directly.
How we built it
We used Python and ffmpeg for image processing.
Challenges we ran into
Task management with Python running ffmpeg commands was very tricky and inconsistent.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made the effects get added with very low latency.
What we learned
We learned how to use ffmpeg in Python.
What's next for Disco Cam
More effects and a cross-platform implementation would make this tool more useful in the future
