Inspiration
Social media is only becoming more prevalent in our lives, and many of these sites have been designed to prey on our mind's vulnerabilities. Since teenagers and young adults are the most susceptible to the negative effects of social media and many don't receive help in navigating them, we decided to make a website to do just this.
What it does
Our website includes a Journals page that lets users connect with others who also want to have conversations about social media and mental health, a Resources page that aims to raise awareness about this issue through videos and other helpful links, and a Let's Talk page that includes a chatbot that will give guidance to users in dealing with their mental health problems and answer questions relating to the site's mission.
How we built it
We coded the website using HTML and CSS on repl.it and created our logo using Canva.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenges were not have been able to finish adding the friend locator or chatbot to our website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of having come up with a concept that addresses an important problem in the lives of teenagers and young adults. We are also proud of having created our website within the tight deadline of 24 hours.
What we learned
We learned how to create a pretty looking logo using Canva and incorporate it into our website.
What's next for Sociental
Next, we want to finish creating the friend locator and chatbot features of Sociental.
