Inspiration
As students participate in a wide range of activities—overseas programmes, competitions, awards—their achievements become spread across various platforms and departments. We saw an opportunity to enhance visibility by bringing these accomplishments together in one place. Our goal is to support the institution’s ongoing efforts to recognise student growth and to make it even easier to appreciate each learner’s full journey from Year 1 to 3.
What it does
Our platform consolidates key student milestones—such as overseas participation, competition involvement, and awards—into a single, intuitive dashboard. It provides educators and administrators with convenient, real-time insights into each student’s development across all three years. By centralising this information, the system streamlines reporting, highlights achievements, and strengthens support for students throughout their academic journey.
How we built it
We leveraged AI to generate the front-end interface, ensuring a clean and user-friendly design. AI was also used to streamline queries, making the dashboard visualization fast, accurate, and easy to interact with.
Challenges we ran into
We aimed to keep the front end as simple as possible, which required careful brainstorming to determine the most essential information to display. For the dashboard, there were disagreements about which metrics to visualize. We resolved this by consulting stakeholders directly to ensure the dashboard met their needs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of delivering a dashboard that clearly presents the key data stakeholders need while maintaining a simple, intuitive front end. The charts are informative, easy to interpret, and support better decision-making for student development.
What we learned
We learned the importance of balancing simplicity with functionality, and that stakeholder engagement is critical in deciding what information truly matters. Collaborating as a team helped us navigate design trade-offs and improve both the usability and relevance of our platform.
What's next for SoC Studex
Next, we plan to enhance SoC Studex by integrating predictive analytics to forecast student participation trends, adding automated report generation, and expanding the platform to track additional milestones such as skill certifications and project completions. This will further support informed decision-making and comprehensive student development tracking.
