Inspiration

We wanted to build a fun, interactive game in order to encourage consumers to share their opinions on potential products. This game can be used by retailed to analyze consumer trends. To encourage user interaction, we used soda cans as controllers!

What it does

Products fall from the sky and users have to make a impulse decision to see if they like something based purely on price and look. Users can choose to catch the item in a love it, like it, neutral, or hate it cart. After 4 likes, loves, or neutral selections, the user is encouraged to submit detailed feedback for the selected items. To make the game fun, we used a makey makey attached to soda cans to move the cart and make selections.

How I built it

We used mainly JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. We used the Phaser.io JavaScript framework. Graphic design was done using PhotoShop and an Intuos tablet.

Challenges I ran into

None of us had designed a game before and many were new to JavaScript. We had to learn a new framework within 36 hours. We had to design our graphics to make the game attractive. Finding and sizing images to fit the game space was challenging. We had to decide what important information we had to show to the user in order to avoid a busy interface and confusing controls.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Finishing the game in 36 hours. We're proud of the features we added and how the game looks. We learned new technologies and improved our teamwork skills.

What I learned

JavaScript, Phaser.io, graphic design, photoshop, UX principles, advertising strategies, user engagement, game psychology, and web development
