Inspiration
As a sophomore, the theme "protect the youth" seemed to resonate most with school, as it makes the largest part of my life at the moment. Also, many students and I struggle with our engagement, emotions, and organization and are too afraid to seek help.
What it does
Has a to-do list, survey asking for engagement and mood for that day, and widgets to add any additional websites. Each completed task or survey gives a gems, which could be used for some sort of reward.
How we built it
Using HTML, Js, and CSS, I first make all the elements: the to-do, gem count, and widgets. Then, I focused on the functionality, making all the features work. Lastly, I worked with cookies to save the survey information.
Challenges we ran into
Creating and using cookies was extremely difficult, and I ran out of time to figure out how to save the tasks in the to-do. Also, simply positioning all the elements was also quite annoying.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The survey saves the info, and the website looks clean and simple.
What we learned
Cookies, element positioning.
What's next for Smonitor
Making sure all the widgets and tasks are saved, as well as a 24-hour refresh for the survey. Also, Smonitor would have a google log-in to better save data. Lastly, there would in the future be an interface for teachers and administrators to better monitor students.
