Smash Covid

Inspiration

As children are more prone to Covid-19 as they don't know what precautions they should follow. They are mostly influenced from games and easily learn from them, so why don't have a game which will teach them the power of masks, sanitizers, and how social distancing are so important. So, we made a game which will teach them all precautions and will be full fun and learning opportunity.

What it does

In the game there's a child who is trying to make it's way home but in the way he has to face huge crowd. As to protect himself from getting Covid from the persons around him, he's given some powers. One of them is the sanitizer through which he can kill the person in front of him which will teach the kids how powerful and important is the use of sanitizers. The game will end if the child comes in touch with someone which will teach the kids how they deadly it is if they interact with someone who has Covid without any protection. And in this game its not specified who has Covid which symbolizes the real-life scenario. But there's one way the child can protect himself from being killed and that's the use of mask. In the game, masks will pop up randomly and if the child gets it and then he comes in contact with the some person he will not die, so this shows and teaches the importance of use of mask.

How we built it

We mostly worked with Python and pygame.

Challenges we ran into

As most of us are first time participating in hackathon, so it was very hard to set up everything. We faced problems like how to end the game when the child interacts with someone and doesn't die when the mask is on. We also faced issue in killing the person with sanitizer and looping the game if nothing happens.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being first time hacking for most of us we're proud of that we are able to make something good and useful. As this application will be very helpful in teaching the kids and can make a real life impact in spreading awareness among them regarding Covid precaution's importance. This can save a lot of lives and don't forget it comes with fun too.

What we learned

We learned how to make amazing games with Python. All of us are creative and innovative persons so they came to realize that they can make great impact in the society with their skills. This project also acts as awareness regarding community help, Covid precautions among our team members.

What's next for Smash Covid

We will be making it more user interactive and will add more features so that kids will like it more and make masks, sanitizers as their super heroes. This is web applications and will work on android application so it will make easier for kids to access it.
