Inspiration

The site HealthyWage.com is similar, but that service is clearly out dated in a web 3 landscape. I initially saw HealthyWage and one of my first thought was this could definitely be done better and be more profitable for the participants with web 3 especially if it was made a more social and interactive.

What it does

The app helps people lose weight by creating a sunk cost default position which helps motivate the participant through the hardest part of weight loss, the first few weeks. In addition, bets supporting or against them continually raise the stakes by increasing their prize pool.

How we built it

I used Nextjs and TailwindCSS on the frontend with a Strapi backend. I also utilized Stytch for login with wallet and email. I also utilized pokt network for an RPC endpoint.

Challenges we ran into

I guess the visual design doesn't look very great and their are some bugs that can happen if the user repeats an action or navigates away from a page too early, but for all three of those it was only because I really had to crunch to finish on time and only could finish the most important parts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I feel like this project has made a it a significantly closer to MVP than I originally expected it to; even though there are less features than I wanted, I now have a better idea of how to accomplish what I would like to.

What we learned

Don't leave the blockchain code to test and compile till the last day! I didn't realize that a few of the contracts I coded but didn't debug till last minute were in different versions of solidity since I there wasn't going to be to much changes from the originals making it not possible to deploy in the remaining hour left. Would be surprised if this didn't get disqualified for lack of deployment alone so not uploading a video because without those contract interactions the only thing to show is login and onboarding to an app with nothing to do... all that being said by the time you are reading this the demo will probably working and live via the site below.

What's next for Slim Chance

There really is a lot I could say here, but I think it would be best boiled down to creating a great mobile experience for our participants to allow them to track their progress and update their betters on their achievements. Along side that, a deep social algorithm which helps show betters the participants they are most likely to want to engage with, dividing users up into factions kind like the chart started (*) below, which will largely be focused on their on chain decisions and the content which influenced those decisions.
