Inspiration
Our goal was to create a website that related to real world problems we faced as busy, school-stressed teenagers. We also wanted to make it more broad in order to make it applicable to people different than us but facing similar problems. This includes people facing homelessness, as well as general instability when it comes to having a safe bed at night, and people with mental health issues that limit their ability to sleep.
What it does
Sleepyhead is an informational website that has resources for people with sleep issues, as well as general public who wish to gain more knowledge regarding their sleeping habits. It also has a sleep tracker which allows for people to get in touch with their sleep patterns. The calming color palette and friendly characters making the interface user friendly.
How I built it
In order to built our program, we used the html program sublime-text and used photoshop to create our graphics. We used one computer as the master computer and tried to collaborate and share code.
Challenges I ran into
We ran into issues with sharing code and not understanding the language and program before hand. Our previous experience with java was hard to translate into html. We also faced trouble with formatting and linking tabs and creating a login database.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud of the design aspect of the program and how much we gained from the experience. We learned a lot about web programming and found that we worked well with the time that we were given.
What I learned
We learned about working successfully together as a team,, meaning splitting up the work in a way that was the most efficient for each team member and made use of their unique skills, web programming, and overall how to challenge ourselves despite starting off against the unknown.
What's next for Sleepyhead
We would like to continue working on the project and hope it can help someone once we improve the overall inconsistencies with the site. Just the overall experience with learning a new interface in such a sort amount of time opened the doors for us to learn even more coding languages.
