General Track

As technology advances, people are growing further apart from one another through both physical and emotional distance. To address the issue of isolation, we've designed CloseKnit, an app that encourages interaction between people, whether it's between family members or friend groups. Closeknit is a low-commitment way to engage with one another through daily questions, status updates, and games.

Design Decisions

We went for a minimal and simple design for ease of use and intuitive navigation for all ages. We designed the homepage to look like a house to offer a sense of comfort and cozy vibes. To keep with the cozy aesthetic, we decided to name the app CloseKnit and make the logo a ball of yarn to build a sense of warmth similar to a knit sweater or blanket. We provided a hamburger menu on most pages to add a way that's familiar to most audiences to navigate the app, additionally along with the homepage. To let the app feel more personal to each individual user, the color scheme of the app can be customized through settings.
