The driving force behind this project is a family friend’s son who has a hearing disability. His eagerness to engage socially and participate in everyday activities highlights a crucial need. I firmly believe that SilentBridge AI can transform the experiences of individuals like him, making their lives more connected and fulfilling.
What It Does
SilentBridge is a groundbreaking AI-powered educational tool designed specifically for students with hearing disabilities in classroom settings. Its standout features include:
- Live Captioning: Delivers real-time spoken word captions, ensuring lectures and discussions are fully accessible.
- Sign Language Translation: Converts sign language into text or speech, enabling effortless communication.
- Multilingual Support: Offers translation of spoken language into various text languages, accommodating diverse students’ needs.
- Sound Recognition: Identifies and detects sounds, such as speakers or important environmental noises like alarms and bells.
- Enhanced Social Inclusion: Bridges communication gaps between students, teachers, and peers, cultivating a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
How We Built It
Our development process focused on defining essential features: turning speech into text, recognizing sign language, translating languages, and detecting sounds. By leveraging technology, we aim to create a more equitable educational experience for all.
