Inspiration

Today, brainrot ideas like sigma, skibidi, rizz, and countless others have infiltrated the internet and the humour of teenagers worldwide. SigmaScore capitalizes on this pivotal cultural movement through providing a platform where teenagers can engage in brainrot culture in an entertaining manner, creating a fun and entertaining experience with friends.

What it does

SigmaScore is a webapp that uses generative AI to perform image analysis on users' pictures to evaluate them on a "sigma score," based on stereotypical physical features of "sigma males." Additionally, SigmaScore is a social platform that allows users to competitively aura farm with other users, using AI to assign initial aura points and providing humorous activities that users can participate in to gain aura points.

How we built it

We built the front end of SigmaScore using Next.js, employing the React framework's CSS support, dynamic HTML elements, and other features. We used Gemini-2.0-Flash, calling the API to perform image analysis based on designed structural prompts. We used Firebase and Firestore to handle user authentication, store sigma scores, and power our real-time updating leaderboard.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we spent a lot of time jumping between project ideas and brainstorming before finally settling on SigmaScore. It was difficult to come up with an idea that was not only original, but also possessing a relevant purpose and a substantial level of technical complexity. However, after finalizing SigmaScore, we were able to assign development roles efficiently and expand on the webapp technically and creatively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud of our final product, since we were not only able to implement our minimal viable product, but also expanded on some features. We collaborated throughout the whole hackathon effectively and efficiently, helping each other and gaining valuable experiences along the way.

What we learned

We learnt many technical skills while building SigmaScore, including integrating Gemini API with a Next js web app, using Firebase for user authentication and storing user data, as well as working through merge conflicts in Github.

What's next for SigmaScore

In the future, we hope to expand SigmaScore to not just lookmaxxing but also encompass other brainrot/gen-Z internet culture. With enough investment and effort, SigmaScore can become a full-scale app for teenagers to creatively express themselves in pure brainrot.
