Inspiration

Inspiration is mostly drawn from the trouble from recovering lost citizens during 9/11 and also during large scale building collapses. In order to make this process more efficient, Sidney was made.

What it does

It utilizes a variety of small sensors at the end of a probing rod to look for multiple signs to confirm the presence of a human being within small crevices and behind rubble.

How we built it

The usage of micro controllers, a thermal sensor, and ultra sonic sensor, and an LCD screen and buzzer to indicate the presence of a person.

Challenges we ran into

Limited strength of the sensors, power requirements, internal spacing issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Persisting to finish the project! Making it through, and making a project with a cause aligned with good intentions.

What we learned

Wiring, programming microcontrollers, and additive manufacturing.

What's next for Sidney Gish

Making the product more compact and powerful
