Inspiration

We were inspired by video games. Usually, in video games, there is a main story line that you follow. However, there will also be side quests that the player can complete to gain special items or to learn more about a fantasy world. Similarly, in real life, sometimes you just need a side quest to spice up your daily routine.

What it does

SideQuest will generate a task for you to do depending on what area you want the task to be. You can then indicate that you completed the task. Additionally, you can make a profile and (coming soon) calendar saving of the task can be shared with others.

How we built it

We used Swift, SwiftUI, and Xcode

Challenges we ran into

We didn't know Swift or SwiftUI, so learning the entire language was a challenge. Additionally, using the UI tools was a new thing because everything was completely new, so everything from the syntax to how to use different functions was a challenge. Lastly, for some reason Xcode just stops recognizing code, so that was an issue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of this entire project! Considering that we only had a weekend to create it and that we did it in a brand new language none of us knew, we are pretty proud of our creation.

What we learned

We learned that maybe Git hub is the way and not airdropping entire folders to one another.... Additionally, we learned Swift, SwiftUI, and how to navigate Xcode.

What's next for SideQuest

In the future, we see SideQuest being a full on social media, where the quest of the day will be shared and talked amongst many. Users can see friend's quests while sharing their own. Many parts of the app are simplistic, so they can be cleaned up and made more intuitive and easy on the eyes.
