Inspiration

The idea for Shredded Wizards came from the StormHacks teasers, our love for going to gym and competitive fighting games. We wanted to create a game that combines the strategic depth of spell casting with the excitement of melee combat, giving players a unique and thrilling PvP experience.

What it does

Shredded Wizards is a PvP fighting game where players fight using shredded wizards (wow), with powerups to enhance gameplay! Players engage in intense duels, using a combination of magical and physical attacks to defeat their opponents in dynamic arenas.

How we built it

We built Shredded Wizards using the Godot 4 game engine for its flexibility and powerful features. Our team created detailed character designs, animations, and environments, and implemented a robust combat system that blends spell casting with melee mechanics. We also integrated multiplayer functionality to allow for exciting PvP matches.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was doing networking and getting the states synced on both client and host. We fixed this by learning how to use the multiplayer syncing tools provided by Godot and implementing them with regards to our parameters.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating a game that offers a fresh take on the PvP fighting genre. The game has an interesting concept, and we think that given the timeline of the Hackathon, we accomplished a lot of features.

What we learned

Throughout the development of Shredded Wizards, we learned about game development, as this was a first taste of using a game engine for most of us, while also getting a better feel about understanding game designs.
