Inspiration

Our inspiration stems from the awe-inspiring curiosity we had as children, gazing up at the stars and wondering about the stories they held. This childhood fascination with the mysteries of the night sky fueled our desire to create Shooting Star. Later, our discovery of platforms like Stellarium reinforced our belief in the magic of connecting with the stars.

What it does

Shooting Star is designed to make stargazing a more interactive and accessible experience. When users click or upload a picture of the night sky, our software utilizes advanced technologies to identify the constellations formed by the group of stars present in the image.

How we built it

We built Shooting Star using Python, leveraging powerful libraries such as TensorFlow for machine learning, CNN (Convolutional Neural Network), Alex Net, Matplotlib for visualization, and NumPy for numerical operations. This combination allowed us to create a robust system capable of recognizing constellations with accuracy.

Challenges we ran into

One significant challenge was finding the correct dataset for training our model. Ensuring the dataset captured the diversity of constellations and various conditions tested our perseverance. Additionally, selecting the appropriate machine learning model for training posed a challenge that required careful consideration.
