The inspiration behind "Shiok!" 🍜 emerged from the common dilemma many face daily: deciding what to eat. What it does

"Shiok!" 📱 is a web-based application that revolutionizes the way users decide on their meals. By integrating a swiping mechanism akin to popular dating apps, "Shiok!" offers a fun and interactive way to gauge users' food preferences. As users swipe through dish options, the app learns about their tastes and curates personalized meal suggestions. This intuitive approach ensures that users are matched with dishes that appeal to their specific tastes, effectively eliminating mealtime indecisiveness. 🥗➡️🍲

How we built it

The development of "Shiok!" was a collaborative effort, utilizing a blend of cutting-edge technologies and innovative design principles. The core functionality, including the swiping mechanism and personalized suggestion algorithm, was built using a combination of HTML, EJS, JavaScript for frontend interactions and OpenAI GPT3.5, ADA Embeddings, Pinecone, Numpy, and Places API for backend data processing 🛠💻.

Challenges we ran into

Faced with the challenge of developing "Shiok!" in just one day, our team tackled immense time pressure ⏳, requiring rapid decision-making and prioritization of core features. This accelerated timeline demanded a highly focused and collaborative effort, pushing us to streamline our workflow and make strategic compromises to ensure the app's essential functionality and user experience were delivered within the constrained timeframe.
