About Shift Type
Typing faster is an essential skill for students of all levels. However, many typing tests are full of ads and distractions that can make it difficult to focus. Shift Type is a different kind of typing test. It is designed to be as distraction-free as possible, so you can focus on your typing and break your personal best. Shift Type has a minimal interface with no ads or notifications. The only elements on the screen are the text to type, the timer, and your typing stats. How I built it
The development process for Shift Type was a straightforward procedure. I chose Next.js as the backbone of the project because it provides lightning-fast performance without limiting interactivity, and Tailwind CSS for styling for faster and more reliable development. Shift Type is a front-end-only application, which means that it does not require a server to run. This makes it very lightweight and easy to deploy. I deployed Shift Type to Vercel, which makes it easy to deploy and scale web applications.
The first phase was the design phase. In this phase, I created the wireframes and mockups for the application. I also decided on the features that I wanted to include.
The second phase was the development phase. In this phase, I implemented the features that I had decided on. I also added some additional features, such as a leaderboard and a progress tracker.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud of the success of Shift Type, a distraction-free typing test platform that has helped thousands of students improve their typing skills. I built Shift Type with the goal of providing students with a tool that would help them to improve their typing skills in a fun and engaging way. I am also proud of the fact that Shift Type is a free and open-source project. Anyone can contribute to the project and the benefits of Shift Type can be enjoyed by everyone. I am committed to continuing to develop Shift Type and to making it the best typing test platform available.
What we learned
Shift Type was one of the projects that really questioned my problem-solving skills under pressure. I had to learn how to quickly identify and solve problems. Building Shift Type taught me a lot about the importance of user experience (UX). I learned that the best way to create a successful product is to focus on the needs of the user. This means making sure that the product is easy to use, intuitive, and visually appealing. I am excited to continue to learn and grow, and I am confident that I will achieve even greater things in the future.
