Inspiration

Our interest in data analyst lead us to the tool Grafana. From there our ideas branched into graphically producing data that shows any malicious activity and gain clear insights into network behavior.

What it does

This is a real-time network traffic monitoring system that captures data, detects potential threats, and visualizes insights with a user-friendly Grafana dashboard featuring customizable alerts for enhanced security awareness.

How we built it

We used Wireshark for packet capturing, InfluxDB for data storage, and Grafana for real-time visualization and alerts.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges with ensuring continuous packet capture, and configuring Grafana to display meaningful insights effectively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We had never used these technologies before this project. Our accomplishments are visualizing data effectively in Grafana, and overcoming technical hurdles like data authorization errors and continuous data capture.

What we learned

We learned how to use these tools and how to read and understand the data we are capturing. We also learned more about working in a team effectively.

What's next for SharkTank

We would like to implement automated alerts for suspicious network activity, and explore deploying the system as a lightweight service to improve accessibility and efficiency.
