The project aims to promote a circular economy within communities by creating an on-demand, two-sided platform between lenders and borrowers. Frequently, there are items that individuals require urgently but do not have access to due to distance, lack of ownership, or several other barriers. There is no current offering that efficiently matches borrowers requiring an item with nearby individuals willing to lend the said item. ​​Given a borrower request, our algorithm determines which lenders in our network can supply the wanted item and alerts a subset of them in tiers. The order of the tiers are determined by lenders’ locations, their frequency in lending, and other parameters to identify an optimal match. This project aims to increase the utilization of otherwise wasted items through lending. Further, we believe that by promoting reliable lending transactions within a group, our offering will help build trust and familiarity among closed communities.
