Inspiration
Have you thrown away something where only one small part is broken? Like a zipper aon a backpack or a washing mashine that was perfectly fine yesterday but just doesn't seem to turn on anymore? Help us reduce waste and connect with your community by using ShareRepair.
What it does
ShareRepair can help you! Maybe there is an easy fix we can help you with. Use our QA System to determine your problem and find solutions that worked for others. But if it is more complicated we will create a listing for you and connect you with our local retired volunteer-experts. Here we focus on simplicity so elderly and less tech savvy people can easily use the system.
How we built it
We used React with the next.ns and the Mantine library to build our web application. Our data is stored on firebase. In work are features to use an AI chatbot (BERT based) or question answering tree to make the problem fixing easier and to use it to make the posting easier.
Challenges we ran into
Getting to the right idea costs us lots of time in the beginning so some features had to be cut slimmer. The Design is very rough still and while the key features stand we would have loved to implement more. Since it is the first coding competitrion for some in our team, we learned a lot, but also saw the limits of trying to learn a new area of coding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We can already post problems on our website and people can call you, so our pplication is acctually already usable, even if very bare bones! Amazing!!
What we learned
During our many walks for idea finding we (the non Regensburg devs) discovered this beautiful city, the OTH, the Uni and made friends. Also some tech stuff.
What's next for ShareRepair
- Implement the next connection feature and the desicion tree.
- Recruit our experts and connect with the city volunteering programs
- Test our application and improve UX
