Inspiration

We are inspired to create this event planning website after talking with the organizers of WHACK, and we learned about some issues and hiccups they had when planning the Hackathon that we hope to address, to make event planning less of a headache for all!

What it does

Serv works to make event planning a lot easier. The process of planning is divided into 4 simple steps, where you can insert event details, manage participants, create an application, all on one page.

How we built it

Serv was built using a blend of Figma and Bubble.io tools. The frontend and user interface was designed in Figma, and the backend and database stuff was then added on using Bubble.io

Challenges we ran into

We had some issues creating a form builder inside the website, but eventually came to a workaround. We also had some issues with getting Google Maps integration to work. We also had troubles having the website work on mobile, at the moment it is mostly functional on mobile.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of having created most of the features that we wanted, like the ability to create an event, send out emails, navigate and edit events, share events, allow people to fill out an application to join an event, and sign up. Event managers can also manage and check in people on the day of the event.

What we learned

We learned a lot about graphic design and database management, and a lot about how to build websites to be front facing.

What's next for Serv Event Manager

Serv Event Manager will have bugs fixed then will have more functions added, such as more involved people profiles and information displaying and management. The vision for Serv Event Manager is to have it be able to solve all issues that people have with event planning, such as venue selection, food catering, marketing, fixing RSVP to attendance ratios, ideation, team communications and more!
